Mayor D. Michael Collins Blood Drive, Feb. 20

Toledo’s annual Mayor D. Michael Collins Blood Drive will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at the Toledo Police Patrolman’s Association union hall, 1947 Franklin Ave. The blood drive honors the memory of Mayor Collins, who died four years ago - Feb. 6, 2015. The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors may register at redcross.org.

DETROIT, MI: El pasado jueves 7 de febrero de 2019, el Capítulo Detroit de la Red Global MX y el Consulado de México en Detroit, realizaron un networking con líderes en Michigan, en las oficinas del Consulado, ubicado en el 1403 de la Twelve Mile, Rd, en Madison Heights. El propósito fue presentar proyectos en conjunto para generar estrategias en apoyo a los profesionistas mexicanos en Michigan e impulsar el desarrollo de México.

TOLEDO: Nightly, volunteers meet at the local Greyhound to welcome and provide food, warm clothing, and other basic supplies to migrants released from detention centers along the southern U.S. border.  The migrants are headed North to be reunited with family or friends living in the United States.

CSU and CWRU Partner to Improve Public Transit

CLEVELAND, February 11, 2019: The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is awarding Cleveland State University a $500,000 grant to enhance environmental quality and efficiency in public transit. Professors Stephen Duffy, Nigamanth Sridhar, and Nick Zingale will be collaborating with researchers from Case Western Reserve University via the CWRU/CSU Internet of Things Collaborative (IOTC) on a project titled, “Implementing On-Board Sensor and Real Time Data Acquisition Capabilities in Transit Vehicles.”

Preventing Heart Disease and Stroke: CSU receives $445,500 NIH grant to improve treatment of atherosclerosis

CLEVELAND, February 11, 2019: Atherosclerosis, the narrowing of the arteries due to the build-up of plaque, is a primary cause of heart disease and stroke. Unfortunately, there are currently few preventative treatments that can decrease or eliminate atherosclerosis.
